The Walpole Health Department operates a community durable medical equipment loan program and accepts selected donated medical-assistive items by prior arrangement. The program supports residents who need equipment such as shower benches, grab bars, wheelchairs, rollators, walkers, crutches and canes. Because storage capacity changes, the town asks prospective donors to call the Public Health Nurse directly before arranging pickup or drop-off.

Current restrictions are important: the program states that it is not presently accepting walkers, canes, crutches or bath seats because of storage limits, and it does not accept portable commodes, elevated toilet seats or adult diapers.
