The Town of Farmington operates a Swap Shop at its Solid Waste/Recycling Facility for Farmington residents and non-resident property owners to leave usable items for reuse by others. Accepted examples include housewares in working order, sporting goods, small appliances, toys in good condition, and tools. The town specifically excludes clothing, upholstered furniture, televisions, mattresses, refrigerators, and other listed categories.

This municipal reuse program can be useful for executors handling functional household property that does not need to be discarded, but access is limited by the facility’s residency/property-owner rules and its accepted-item list. Items should be usable and appropriate for direct reuse; disposal items and excluded categories belong in the facility’s other waste streams, not the Swap Shop. Save a trip! Call Town of Farmington Swap Shop first to confirm hours and that they are accepting what you’re bringing.
