Services
The Salvation Army may accepts gently used clothing, furniture, household goods, appliances, books, toys, bicycles, and some electronics.
Their donation guidance also lists items such as beds, chairs, tables, sofas, lamps, bakeware, bedding, dishes, pots and pans, computers, and mobile phones. Donations are typically sold through Salvation Army thrift stores, with proceeds supporting Adult Rehabilitation Centers and related services.
For estate cleanouts, a few limits are worth noting: they generally do not accept gas appliances, built-in appliances, large console TVs or stereos, TVs older than 5 years, paint or chemicals, kerosene or gas heaters, or appliances that are dirty, rusty, missing cords, or not working. Their site also says donation rules can vary by local center, so it is worth checking the local location before drop-off or pickup.
They offer both drop-off locations and free pickup 1-800-SA-TRUCK (1-800-728-7825) in many areas, and donors can usually receive a donation receipt.
