The MERP location on the second floor of UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA provides an easy, hospital-based donation option for estates throughout Mercer County and beyond. The MERP Program is managed through the UPMC Horizon Community Health Foundation .

All equipment donations must be confirmed by MERP.  Please contact us by contact form (below), telephone, or email before bringing any medical equipment or supplies.

When a loved one passes or transitions to care, many households retain medical equipment that remains in good condition. MERP helps executors dispose of these items responsibly by donating them for community reuse. The Greenville site accepts gently used durable medical equipment and selected unused medical supplies. Supplies may include adult diapers, bed pads, and bandages. Executors can include MERP in the estate cleanout plan to reduce landfill waste and support families facing medical need.

MERP accepts many types of durable medical equipment for refurbishment and community use. Donations may include wheelchairs and transport chairs (prescription required), rollators (prescription required), and knee scooters (prescription required). The program also takes canes, walkers, crutches, over-the-bed tables, bed assist rails, Hoyer lifts with slings, and everyday mobility aids such as reachers, sock aids, and leg lifters. MERP welcomes bathroom safety items too, including tub benches, shower chairs, tub bars, toilet bars, bedside commodes, and raised toilet seats, along with other durable medical equipment that staff can restore and loan to neighbors who need it.

MERP staff in Greenville refurbish equipment with a careful, hands-on process. They clean each item, inspect it for safety, and complete repairs when needed. The team then makes the equipment available for no-cost loans to community members. Anyone in the area can borrow equipment. People do not need to be UPMC patients to participate. This approach increases access to essential tools that support safe, independent living at home.

For personal representatives, MERP offers several advantages. The program provides a trusted drop-off destination within a healthcare setting. Hospital location also helps families coordinate donations during other medical or administrative visits. MERP can document donations when requested, supporting estate accounting and records. Remote executors can arrange donations through family members in the Greenville area or through local service partners.

MERP keeps valuable equipment in circulation for years. One donation can help dozens of neighbors. Estates that donate through the Greenville hospital site contribute to a healthier Mercer County community and honor the memory of the deceased through practical goodwill.

Executors can contact the Greenville MERP site to confirm accepted equipment categories and current drop-off procedures.
