Services

The Salvation Army thrift stores actively accept a wide variety of donated items — as long as they are in decent, usable condition.
The Salvation Army is looking for clothing, clean furniture, usable household goods, working appliances/electronics, and general usable items — in a wide range of categories — to stock their thrift stores.

Clothing & Apparel
They welcome men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing across many categories: jackets, coats, dresses, pants, shirts, shoes, sweaters, boots, and outerwear. This applies broadly — from everyday clothing to seasonal items like snowsuits for kids, making thrift donations helpful for families in need.

Furniture & Large House Items
Household furniture is a major donation need: beds (single/full/queen/king), sofas, dressers, chests, dining-room sets, tables, chairs, wardrobes, and complete bedroom or dining room sets are listed. Even larger or bulkier items like sleeper sofas, wardrobes/armoires, kitchen cabinets, rugs, and more are considered — so long as they’re in usable condition.

Household Goods & Kitchen Items
Smaller home-use items are also accepted: kitchenware (pots, pans, bakeware), dinnerware, glassware, appliances (blenders, coffee makers, microwaves), lamps, rugs, bedding and linens (blankets, quilts), throw rugs, curtains/drapes, and various useful household items.

Miscellaneous & Misc Use Items
Beyond home and clothing, The Salvation Army accepts a range of miscellaneous items: books, toys and stuffed animals, small electronics (e.g. functioning TVs or working devices), small appliances, and other usable goods. Even working appliances — like refrigerators, washers/dryers, microwaves and comparable items — are occasionally accepted (though local variation applies).

What They Prefer / What’s Important
Good, usable condition: Clothing with no major wear, furniture intact and safe to resell, appliances and electronics functional. Clean, safe household goods — tarnished, broken, or unsafe items may be refused. Large and small items alike — from single shirts or lamps to whole-room furniture sets or household moves.
