Rice Public Library
Services
Rice Public Library accepts books and DVDs that are new or in like-new condition. Donors with more than one bag are instructed to call ahead so staff can assist. The library does not accept VHS or cassette tapes, encyclopedias, nonfiction books more than ten years old, magazines, or textbooks. Materials may be added to the collection, used as program prizes, or shared with other Maine libraries depending on need.
The library also maintains white donation bins in its upper parking lot for books that do not meet the library’s collection guidelines; those materials go to a company that resells or recycles books and provides proceeds to the library. For executors, this offers a useful book/media pathway but not a general household-property outlet. Save a trip! Call Rice Public Library first to confirm hours and that they are accepting what you’re bringing.
