Nantucket’s Take-It-or-Leave-It reuse program accepts a broad range of reusable household and personal items, including housewares, lamps, kitchen tools, picture frames, sports equipment, toys, small working appliances, cookware, cutlery, games, luggage, tools, art, decor, pet supplies, musical instruments, garden equipment, media, small furniture, books and textiles. Large items may be accepted only as space permits and should be shown to an attendant for approval.

The program prohibits building materials, mattresses and box springs, upholstered furniture, rugs and carpets, tires, helmets, large appliances, liquids, medical equipment devices, medications, paint, household chemicals, car seats and other listed materials.
