Martin County Historical Society
Services
Martin County Historical Society explicitly accepts potential artifact donations for its museum collection. The Society looks for pieces of Martin County history that help document local life and advises that objects must meet standards for physical condition, county relevance, duplication, and usefulness to its displays and educational mission. This specialized resource may be valuable when an estate contains historically significant photographs, documents, household objects, business material, memorabilia, tools, or other items with a clear connection to Martin County.
Acceptance is not automatic. Museum staff first reviews the proposed item and qualifying objects are taken to the Board of Directors for a decision. Executors should therefore contact the museum before transporting material, especially large objects or collections. Save a trip! Call first to confirm hours and that they are accepting what you’re bringing.
