The Community Clothes Closet at Common Unity Place accepts new or gently used clothing, socks, underwear, shoes, boots, jackets, blankets, sheets, curtains and towels. Donations are received during regular Wednesday hours, and an outdoor clothing bin may be available after hours depending on current program status. Large clothing donations should be arranged in advance using the program’s published donation contact. The site focuses on clothing and household textiles rather than general furniture or household cleanout goods.

The closet serves people of all ages in the Skowhegan area and works with schools, shelters, social-service agencies and other community partners to redistribute usable clothing. For executors and families sorting estate contents, this location can provide a practical reuse option for qualifying items that remain usable rather than sending them directly to disposal. Donation capacity, seasonal needs, and item restrictions can change, so donors should review the current guidance before loading a vehicle. Save a trip! Call Community Clothes Closet – Common Unity Place first to confirm hours and that they are accepting what you’re bringing.
