It seems like a small thing, but it’s not. If you’re one of over a billion people who don’t have correctable eye care, receiving a pair of glasses is a big, BIG, deal.
Let’s get to the point: If you have a pair or pairs of used glasses, there are multiple organizations that can get them to where they can do some good.
Walmart and Lions Clubs International have teamed up to bring the Lions Recycle For Sight Program within local reach. Most Walmart Stores with a Walmart Vision Center will accept used eyewear for the program. It’s best to check by calling ahead to save a trip. Glasses with broken lenses or frames are not accepted. Over-the-counter reading glasses are not accepted.
The Lions Recycle For Sight Program operates through the individual state Lions Clubs. You can locate your local Lions Club (Club Locator) to find out if they are taking glasses. If they do, they will send them to one of the several Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers. You can also mail eyeglasses to these Recycling Centers…
